It's strange how some phrases from our past make the transition through generations while others sometimes struggle. Take for example, your "phone". Thirty years ago if you were to say "I've lost my phone" people would have thought you were mad because everyone's phone was fixed to a wall or set on a table with a cord attached. Meanwhile, a phrase like "medicine cabinet" may not conjure many images reflective for our current times - instead we think of squeaky hinges, fingerprinted mirrors and a bit of bathroom chaos on shelves we might attempt to hide from visitors.
But our partners at Kohler are working to change our aged perceptions about medicine cabinets, and organizing bathrooms in general. They recently published this article, Four Bathroom Organization Ideas, that we found helpful and included some new tools for making the most of your new bathroom. Below we'll share their four ideas while providing a bit of our commentary about each: 1. Medicine Cabinets: Whether recessed into your wall or surface mounted, today's bathroom cabinets offer many new features that should not be overlooked. New medicine cabinets can now include both exterior lights and interior lighting to make sure you grab the real tube of toothpaste, not that other tube. Adjustable shelves allow you to accommodate your tallest shampoo bottles and mirrored door backs and cabinet backs allow you to view both sides of a medicine bottle. Finally, the most advanced bathroom cabinets now include outlets for shavers, trimers or just to charge your "phone" before heading out the door. 2. Appliance Trays: One of the most common requests we have for new bathroom vanities is for sleek rollout appliance trays that give your blow dryer, curling iron and other hair accessories a place of their own. Without a designated space, most of these items end up lying around all day, but with metal cups installed in the appliance tray, devices can heat up or cool off without cluttering your countertops. And the more advanced installations also include outlets so everything is ready to go whenever you are! 3. Divider Drawers: How much time do you waste looking for the right tube of lipstick every day, day after day? Kohler recently introduced the Tailored Vanity collection to allow you to organize your bathroom vanity drawers so your space has exactly what you need, where you need it. To get access to the Tailored Vanities buying guide, please follow this special link or ask our Diamond Bath team members for more details! 4. Shower Shelves and Lockers: While we've discussed and frequently demonstrate the popularity of tiled shower niches on our blog, what happens when a niche isn't enough? Here the article goes into detail about the "Choreograph" shower lockers that can be added to a shower during the remodeling process to provide multiple shelves and a basket for expanded shower storage. Because this system integrates with other Kohler accessories, their shower walls would need to be included in your remodeling project. For more details, contact Diamond Bath Remodeling, or feel free to explore the Choreograph Planner tool on the Kohler website. Either way, you'll never think of your "medicine cabinet" the same way again!

While it seems like just yesterday, it was actually Spring of 2017 when we signed the lease for our first office space in Crystal Lake! At that time, it was ideal for our growing company, but we felt some growing pains right from the start - especially when it was time to bring clients in or even to attempt to have two separate phone conversations simultaneously. Plus, it was leased space and we all know that improvements made to a lease space are not necessarily yours to keep long term.
Our entire team is pleased to announce that we've purchased a larger space, also in Crystal Lake, that will allow for a bit more freedom and enable us to make the improvements needed to establish a Client Selection Center that would be expected from Diamond Bath. And the other great news is that it's just steps away from our original office location; we're still at 820 E. Terra Cotta Avenue in Crystal Lake, but we are now at Suite 217! While our Client Selection Center is not quite ready for new clients just yet (see "in progress" photos below) we are getting closer by the day and look forward to a time very soon when we can have an open house to welcome our Diamond Bath clients from many years past and new clients who we look forward to serving in the future! And thanks to both for your patience as we prepare this new space and make it our own! Contact us today to arrange for a visit and to discuss your professional bathroom remodeling ideas! One of our favorite episodes of your favorite home remodeling show featured a note written by a young contractor in 1976 and placed inside a soda bottle found by a TV remodeling team decades later. There's something mystical about leaving notes for strangers to find in the future. And given the longevity of homes, it's no surprise that many of us write our initials in wet concrete or drop notes into floorboard cracks. So we laughed when we saw this funny note pop up last month from a bathroom remodeling project in California. The Mooney family decided their shower was too small and took on a DIY project themselves. During renovation they discovered a picture and note written on the backside of their bathroom wall, dated 1995, from two previous home owners: The handwritten note asked an important question' "If you're reading this, that means you're remodeling the bathroom again. What's wrong with the way we did it?!?!?" . The Mooney's shared photos of the drywall note on social media and this story went viral and was covered by the national news media. We also love the fact the 1995 homeowners, the Shinsuki's, also included a photo and note from their potty trained bunny as well - Cassie - a future Cadbury bunny hopeful!
