While it's common for homeowners to use the words "remodeling" and "renovation" synonymously, we are doing our best in 2018 to help people understand the important difference between the two similar words. The words represent different ways of improving your bathrooms and better understanding both may help when choosing which company to hire for improvements in your home. We intentionally chose the word "remodeling" for our company name - Diamond Bath Remodeling - and here's why:
What is Bathroom Renovation? After many years in this business we've found the best way to explain "renovation" is with the simple phrase: Remove and Replace. If you are removing a bathroom vanity and replacing it with a new vanity that does not require you to move water pipes or add electrical outlets, that is renovation. If you are taking out an old exhaust fan and replacing it with a new fan / bluetooth speaker combination, that is also renovation. Now, if you're removing a tub and shower unit to make way for a larger shower that will require water and drain pipes to be relocated, along with the removal of a wall - you are no longer renovating - you've entered into the more challenging realm of remodeling! What is Bathroom Remodeling? Remodeling is the act of physically changing the structure (or infrastructure) of an existing space. For our crews this frequently means moving walls, relocating plumbing, eliminating or creating closets, modifying windows, adding electrical circuits (heated floors anyone?) and more. Ultimately, remodeling goes way beyond simple "remove and replace" to the point of structural and functional changes to your previously existing space. While our competitors might focus on surface improvements to your counter tops or tub, Diamond Bath is a credible company with years of experience at ALL aspects of bathroom remodeling and renovation! When most local homeowners contact Diamond Bath to inquire about pricing, our customer support team tries to determine whether they are looking for a true remodeling project or a simple bathroom renovation. In terms of both pricing and timeframe for delivery, bathroom renovations can be completed in less time and for less money than remodeling projects. As you start to think seriously about what you would like from your next bathroom, please keep in mind these simple differences between remodeling and renovation projects!

Right about the same time that the founder of Facebook was facing hours of congressional questions about personal privacy this week, we were discovering a bluetooth device designed for your shower! Lucky for all of us, it's a battery-powered speaker - not an eavesdropping microphone - to deliver super shower soundtracks according to your musical wishes! Kohler is once again at the forefront of bathroom technologies delivering not one, but two different shower heads that integrate with their new Moxie Wireless Speaker (~$75). The wireless speaker works like most other rechargeable wireless speakers with the exception that it is water resistant. So if you have your own Moxie speaker connected to your phone and your significant other has a Moxie speaker tied to their smart device, you simply snap your Moxie speaker into one of two available Kohler showerheads when it's time! Now that your favorite music (podcasts, audio books or streaming radio stations) can go with you literally anywhere, the only question is, what's on your shower soundtrack? At the very start of 2018, Angie's List recognized our team at Diamond Bath Remodeling by awarding us their "Super Service Award" for all the successful remodeling projects we completed in 2017. This was the fourth year in a row our company was the recipient of this difficult to obtain national recognition. A little more than a month later we received notification from the Better Business Bureau of Chicago and Northern Illinois that we were recognized with a Complaint Free Award (see photo below) - also for 2017.
Our entire team is greatly appreciative of these customer service recognition awards, and we hang them with great pride in our Crystal Lake offices. It takes consistent - daily effort to keep local homeowners more than happy with the improvements we make to each and every bathroom. In these days when we are surrounded by social media, and it's easy to leave negative feedback about any company, we take great pride in our results and the growing list of local customers we bring joy to every time they walk into their new bathrooms. Our sincere thanks to our past customers for the positive feedback you've provided, and to those that would like to post a review, please visit the Diamond Bath profile page on the BBB website. To the potential customers looking for professional contractors and bathroom remodeling companies with stellar "Complaint Free" track records, look no further!
